Hydro Group 1 (Tuesday) – BSB40920 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice

Why should I take this course?

Project management is a powerful tool for addressing the complex needs of today’s organisations.

Unlike narrowly focused fields – such as HR, marketing, finance or IT – project management brings together an array of skill sets spanning creative and critical thinking, leadership, risk, change and stakeholder management.

Simply put, project management provides a structured yet flexible framework for tackling a diverse range of initiatives faster, better and in a cost-efficient manner.

That is why project management is the most in-demand occupation in the world today.

What will I learn?

The Institute of Project Management’s BSB40920 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice will be delivered over a series of 12 x 2 hour workshops.

Our expert facilitators leverage your latent project experience, connecting a common frame of reference, common purpose and common-sense approach to the cohesive delivery and oversight of professional and personal projects.

Over the course of the program, dedicated project teams progress through a range of practical activities in the delivery of a fully simulated project.

Is there homework?

The workshops are self-contained in that you complete assessment activities in class with no on-going homework requirements.

That said, to graduate the BSB40920 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice you must prepare, share and be able to critically reflect upon the following portfolio of project management assets and their application:

  • Project stakeholder register and communications plan
  • Project concept canvas with risk profile
  • Project Gantt chart, including:
    • Multi-level work breakdown structure
    • Project schedule with dependencies
    • Task level resource allocations and overall project budget
  • Request for proposal
  • Risk register and management plan
  • Project status report and change request
  • Project reflection (report)

Templates with detailed instructions are provided for each activity.

You can elect to complete these independently with mentor support or via an in-person workshop series – we will provide more details on this option once the course gets underway.

Where will it take me?

The BSB40920 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice is a prerequisite for candidates considering the BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management.

We discuss in the workshop series how candidates can use the Cert IV to significantly fast-track completion of the Diploma.
